Another exciting week in Link4Growth! … 2 workshops delivered, events as far away as Cardiff and Peterborough, the NEXT L4GExpo announced in LONDON! … and a whole host of regular coffees and drinks taking place! … we have some exciting new events already on the system with Spalding (Lincs) and also Tewin Farm in Welwyn… and lots of new people becoming actively involved in the vision to rebuild local communities!!

We’re about to expand into the Midlands and then we are a stones throw from the north west and north east… on plan to get national coverage by the end of the year!! … enjoy this weeks #L4GNews Update!

Online forums can be a real challenge, ask anyone that has managed or built one! … so we did and we are… talking to Ruth Raymer who for the past 10 years has been heavily involved in building online communities… Ruth explains in the video how forums represent the glue that holds everything together, and allows communities to flourish in ways they cannot without them… the Link4Growth Community is a very special one because all those that participate have either been to Link4Growth events or are recommended by others with Like Minds…

We are very lucky that Ruth not only ‘gets’ the Link4Growth ethos and principles but that she has accepted the opportunity to manage the online community for Link4Growth. A great opportunity to talk with Jat Bhogal and Harbinder Mathadu about their exciting project Life Skills 4 Kids. A concept aimed at 11-13 year olds, Life Skills 4 Kids is about providing these young teenagers with essential skills they will need as they become adults and that they don’t get taught in schools… today we pump kids full of information and just let them sink or swim with the key things that MUST HAVE, Self Esteem, Confidence, Communication skills… just even the basics of how to treat someone else… and how to actually like themselves even!!

Working with small groups at the weekend… Jat & Harbinder want to create a fun, enjoyable experience for kids that gives them a chance to experiment, learn, try things out in a fun and friendly environment… I know that they will be doing some really important work and look forward to perhaps doing another soundbite later on as their project unfolds…

Quite hard to keep track of everything that is happening in Link4Growth at the moment… but that is a good thing! Ruth Raymer is making a real difference to our online community and personally I am really pleased with how this is coming along… Community forums only work if we all participate, however small our own individual contributions, it serves to remind people we are there, our avatar pops up again, people check your profile… plus you can really help other people with your experience and knowledge… Ruth will be sending out more information on ways to engage in the coming weeks… all very exciting!! … lots more has been happening though, so for a full-ish roundup (I always forget something) please take a look at the video below… enjoy!

What an amazing week in Link4Growth! Apart from all the exciting coffees, new events, workshops and expansion going on… we had a successful first ever Link4Growth Expo in Peterborough with the Mayor & Mayoress!

… an appointment of a highly experienced Forum manager to really take our community forums into orbit… and…

Our website has pretty much been reworked so that is looks amazing on smart phones, tablets and regular computers… How did we cram all of that into one week? … no idea!! I guess it is because when you work together and everyone helps out you can move mountains… enjoy the update!!
